St. Emanuel Burial Association, Codorus, Pa

A FUND RAISING DRIVE is being held for St. Emanuel Burial Association during the month of May 2023.

St Emanuel was the Union Cemetery for Trinity Lutheran and Christ UCC Churches. The cemetery is located across York Street, back one block on Sunset View Street.

Remember, a part of our church heritage is at this site and many of the grave stones are dated from 1800 to 1950, with some having the information written in German.

We are thankful for those who have been helping to keep the site well groomed by mowing and caring for the cemetery.

There is a sign-up sheet on the bulletin board for volunteers to mow using the riding mower and string trimmer owned by St Emanuel and stored in the UCC garage. Interested persons please contact Larry Linebaugh or use the sign-up
sheet in the hallway opposite the entry to the men’s restroom.

The association’s income is from a small amount from the county and donations from the two churches.
All help and donations are appreciated.

Trinity Lutheran Church in Jefferson shares care of the historical cemetery, St. Emmanuel’s, located about a block away from the church, with Christ U.C.C. in Jefferson.

The local cemetery currently accepting burials, and used by many families in our congregation, is Jefferson Cemetery:  located just outside of town on Baltimore Street on top of the hill.

Easter Sunrise Services are held annually on Easter Sunday morning at sunrise at the Jefferson Cemetery, in witness to Christ’s victory over death and the grave.
